A RACE for right to sight

Initially eye care was an addition activity for us. In 1995 we organized eye camps during winter. During it we realized that there was need of eye clinic so in 1997 eye clinic was established. We had basic diagnostic and operative facilities including microscope.

  1. In 2002 our hospital was recognized as Base Hospital by government (DBCS) and our journey to control of avoidable blindness was begun.
  2. In 2006Vishvakalyan society became founder member of Gujarat chapter of Vision 2020 Right to Sight. Our chairman is founder trustee and now Treasurer of it.
  3. In 2008our trustee donated 2.5 million Rs. to establish Smt. Shantaben Shantilal Kothari Eye Hospital.
  4. In 2009 Government of India sanctioned grant of 2.5 million rupees for its up gradation.
  5. In 2021 SmtChandrabenPiyushbhai Kothari Retina unit was inaugurated. State Bank of India donated Rs 25.89 lacs for purchasing green laser.

 

Our Projection to Prevent avoidable blindness from 01-04-2025 to 31-03-2030

From the inception our focus was on correction of refectory error and cataract surgery.

Having worked forthree Decades to Prevent Avoidable blindness. We wish to change in our strategies as follows

  1. Continue rather intensify our focus on correction refractive error and early cataract detection and it’ssurgeries.
  2. Add facilities for detection and treatment of diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
  3. Get ready for treating the other causes of preventable blindness.
  4. Improve the physical infrastructure and purchase the required equipment,strengthen manpower – Doctors, Ophthalmic technicians, admin and support staff, and dedicated team for outreach activities.
  5. Procure more number of vehicles for medical team and transportation of patients and their relatives.
  6. Focus on strict prevention on infection and achievement of clear vision,
  7. Add vision centers in remote areas and establish eye hospitals at block levelwith secondary care facilities& increase numbers frequently screening camps
  8. Continue training local youth for ophthalmic technician and establish collage for Optometry& local leaders and health workers
  9. Establish links with professional, NGOs, Social organization for better performance,
  10. Raise funds by conventional and modern techniques that is personal contacts,donations from foundation, Contribution from companies as CSR and cloud fund raisingat social platform etc…
